Acrylic 3D: Shimmer, Shine & Neon

Yay finally had my first client in Holland past Thursday, my mini me's mom. Last week we were talking about acrylics, Dutch salons and the nail courses I did in Monterrey. She decided to schedule her next appointment with me as she liked the way my current nails looked. We ended up talking about the design I would do for her, it would include glitter, rhinestones and neon 3D.

On the day itself I decided to take off her old set as I spotted too many air bubbles. There's no better way for her to see what I can do and really evaluate her new nails when I do them from scratch.

Products used:

  • Creamy white
  • Pink
  • Glitter pink mix: Essence - glitter, Maybelline - glitter, pink, Petal (bride collection)
  • Neon rose
  • Neon turquoise mix: neon blue, turquoise, neon pear
  • Neon orange mix: yellow, neon rose, neon yellow
  • Rhinestones

Note:
All products are from Organic Nails unless otherwise stated

What do you guys think of this design? Let me know in the comments below

Acrylic 3D: Baby Pink And Silver

As I will leave mexico upcoming Tuesday I offered to do my friends' nails if anyone wanted to. So last friday I did Karla's nails as she passed all of her exams and would graduate this semester. She told me that she would love for me to do an enhancement for her as she would have a graduation ball next Friday.

At first her dress was going to be turquoise, but she changed it last minute to a pink dress. Since I didn't have any pinks I decided to custom make the color for her to match the dress below. Since I had to mix this based on the picture I showed her the mixture as if I were to apply it to double check it was the correct color.

Products used:

  • Pink mix: red, metallic pearl, ultra white, neon pink, yellow
  • Pink
  • Delight (Euphoria collection)
  • Ultra white

Note:
All products are from Organic Nails unless otherwise stated

I hope you guys like this simple look as much as I, my friend and her mom do. Until next time.

RiRi Loves M.A.C. Holiday

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing okay. First of all I want to apologize for not being active these past weeks. I had a lot of exams for which I had to learn a lot (think entire book within two days or so) as I fell behind. Even though I had a lot of ideas and posts I wanted to share with you, school had to be my priority. So I hope you all forgive me for that. As I'm typing this I also suffer from the flu, but I just couldn't wait to show you guys what I got from the RiRi loves M.A.C. Holiday collection.

I didn't feel all that well when my alarm went off yesterday, but knew that if I didn't went to the store as soon as it opened I wouldn't have any chance to get my hands on these babies. At 10am I wasn't expecting a line, but unfortunately there was one. Everyone seemed to want the lipsticks, which is why the store only allowed you to buy one of each color. I let one of the salesmen swatch the pink lipstick as I was doubting if I should also get that one besides the other two when I heard another salesman say that the infamous Riri Woo was already sold out.

*insert cry face*

I immediately ran out of that store (remember that I had the flu and was feverish) onto the next one, which luckily had a shorter line. I immediately asked how many they had left of each color or else I would have ran to the last store in Amsterdam that carried them. Luckily for me that wasn't necessary.

*insert happy dance*

I was able to get my hands on all three colors (the last Riri Woo and the second last of Pleasure Bomb). It was kinda sad though when others arrived asking if the store still carried some as it turned out that all stores' lipsticks basically sold out within 7 minutes after opening the store.

Enough chit chat, let's look at the goodies

Isn't the packaging just gorgeous?

From left to right: Bad Girl RiRi, Pleasure Bomb, RiRi Woo

Plain lips

Bad Girl RiRi

The nude color of the bunch, a very wearable lipstick for all skin tones in my opinion. It's this soft rose cream that just looks flattering and I will probably wear this one everyday.

Pleasure Bomb

This hot fuchsia lipstick will grab everyone's attention for sure. I like this one although I have never worn a bold lip and I will have to get used to this one. Paired with a calm eye look and due to the matte finish, this can work in daytime as well.

RiRi Woo

A true classic red that suits every skin color. I finally understand why this was sold out super fast every time it came out. For those that missed out I have asked the saleswomen to swatch this besides their regular Ruby Woo and there is barely a difference to them. RiRi Woo is just a bit darker, richer of color but really though I bet no one could tell if you wore one or the other until you compare them side to side.

I really do not regret my purchase even though I had to go outside with my flu and feverish head. I would have never been able to get my hands on them if I didn't unless of course for the ridiculous prices on Ebay.

Have you purchased anything from the RiRi Loves M.A.C. Holiday collection?

WHEN NAILART GOES WRONG #1

Hello everyone I almost didn´t post this as I hate how my nails look at this moment, but decided to upload it anyway. So I tried foiling for the first time yesterday and it turned out great (at first though). Had some tiny mistakes here and there (which I fixed btw) and went to my aunt's party even though I'm still sick. Didn't take pictures immediately when I was done, because it was quite late and I didn't have enough lighting. The party was fun and my nails were stunning with the foil effect.

But when I woke up this morning.....Yuck and ....yuck again. I mean just look at the pictures and you'll know what I mean.

You see what I mean now, it"s so ugly. For some reason my black zebra stripes on my ring finger and thumb turned this dark olive army green (this was done with a true black acrylic paint O_o" ). Thought I'd used enough glue to adhere my foil on the other nails. The fixed mistakes on those nails also turned into the dark olive army green, so now you see those patches as well.

Note to self for next time:

  • Topcoat the foil before using acrylic paint
  • Topcoat the finished design again
  • Do not rush through nailart

FYI I've used this beautiful foil named Fuchsia Fantasy for this design. Look at how gorgeous it looks in the bottle.

Too bad though, because the effect was very pretty and I will definitely redo this design one day. Just wanted to show you guys that not everything I try turns out great.

Have you ever messed up your nailart?

My Birthday Nails

So today is my birthday, couldn’t upload this post earlier as I besides the nail art also had to refill my acrylics. Anyway didn’t really do much today besides that as I got a bad flu and just don’t have the energy for other stuff. Don’t ask me how I will survive this week’s school lessons. Anyway let’s talk nail art.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I absolutely love Robin Moses’ nail art designs and I will try to recreate practically all of them. The following is another inspired remake of one of her beautiful designs. Sadly when I finally finished my nails I didn’t have any natural lighting anymore so these pics are not doing this design justice. I’ll try to photograph some new ones tomorrow.

Products used:

  • Hema- Clear polish
  • China Glaze- Sunset Sail
  • Catrice- Miss Piggy Reloaded
  • Inaz- Glam Rock
  • Inaz- Rose Glam
  • MAC- Reflects Gold pigment
  • Essence- Better than Gel nails topcoat
  • Rhinestones

And of course a picture of my Bday outfit. Wasn't in the mood for special wear, so just a LBD and of course hot heels.

    Do you like this design?

    Nailart: Hot pink zebra love

So as mentioned in my previous post today I had some issues with blogger on my computer and couldn’t post anything last the week the way I wanted too. I think I’ve found the solution though….Start using Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer haha LOL.

    Products used:

    • 1 coat of Essence studio nails step 1
    • 1 coat of Essence studio nails xxl nail thickener
    • 2 coats China Glaze Snow (too thin polish that isn't easy to apply, streaky)
    • 1 coat of China Glaze Pink Voltage
    • 1 coat of Essence studio nails better than gel nails topcoat

I really liked this design as it‘s truly bold and there. Can’t wait to try variations of it.

What do you guys think of this design?

Note: some of you have already seen this design on my instagram or on facebook due to the issues with blogger and my determination to still upload the picture somewhere.

    Nailart: OPI Lites to Darks

A friend of mine requested me do a certain design for her for a few years now, but for some reason didn't find the time to do it. So when I visited her new house last week I knew I had to bring these polishes with me. After eating some of her delicious  home-made pancakes we started with polishing the nails. And here's the result:

The colors that I'd used were from a mini set from the brand OPI named Lites to Darks and it contained four mini bottles.

    Colors used per nail:

    • Thumb: 3 coats of Sweet Heart topped with 1 coat of Princesses Rule!
    • Index: 2 coats of Sweet Heart topped with 1 coat of Princesses Rule! sponged with Meet me on the Star Ferry
    • Middle: 2 coats of Meet me on the Star Ferry
    • Ring: 2 coats of Meet me on the Star Ferry sponged with Lincoln Park After Dark
    • Pink: 2 coats of Lincoln Park After Dark

Base and topcoat were used but I can't remember their names though. Will write that down next time.

It's a really simple design as you only need a sponge to create this, but the effect is quite nice. We absolutely loved the effect on the ring finger and I think I might try to wear a full mani with that combo.

What do guys think about this design? Would you try it?

Note: some of you might have already seen this photo as I'd already uploaded it last week on my instagram as I had some issues with blogger

    Holo Summer Week: BFF

Yeah just four more days of Holo Summer Week to go, have you chosen your favorite yet? I hope you like some pink cause today I have another one of the OMG collection polishes for you, named BFF. And as you could probably tell by my tiny hint and the name of the polish, it of course refers to us girls as this term is mostly used by younger women.

Best Friends Forever is a blue-based pink and really has the perfect name. It does remind me of a group of teenagers, but the color can even be worn several years after that as it not a bubblegum pink or so. This is again a one-coater which is as I've mentioned before just awesome as the bottle could pretty much last forever.

I like this color a lot although this is not my true BFF (couldn't help myself sorry), since that's another color from this collection. All in all I think this is a gorgeous pink, not to bright and not to pale, just to wear to pretty much everywhere.

What do you think? Is this a perfect pink?

Holo Summer Week: Holo topping, please!

Hello there, this is my last Holo Summer Week post as I've misplaced the last one of my OMG polishes and therefore can't blog about it. When I've found it I will post it, but till then this will be the last of the Holo Summer Week 2013.

Anyway this is my most affordable holographic polish so far as it just costs around 2 Euros and is widely available at several drugstores. It's from the brand Essence and it's one of their nail art special effect! toppers, a holographic topcoat that can transform the look of any regular nail polish color as it as the name describes gives you a holographic finish on top.

I wanted to show you guys how it looks on top of different base colors and of course also show you if this topcoat was wearable by its own.

I have used the following for each nail:

Index:           1 coat of China Glaze Midnight Mission topped with 1 coat of the Essence Holo topping, please!
Middle:         1 coat of China Glaze For Audrey topped with 2 coats of the Essence Holo topping, please!
Ring:             1 coat of China Glaze Pelican Grey topped with 1 coat of the Essence Holo topping, please!
Pink:             4 coats of the Essence Holo topping, please!

As the Holo topping, please! is a very light pink it does change the base color a bit, which is why it's important to test it out before you do a full manicure. Although it looks nice on all the base colors I’ve used I absolutely love it over the Pelican Grey as the colors pink and grey seem to match perfectly. I also really like my index finger as it gives this kinda galaxy look. What also really surprised me was how I also love it on its own even though it required 4 coats for medium-full opacity and you can still see the VNL (Visible Nail Line).

I love it as it's this perfect light pink which I didn't have in my holo collection yet and it has the same scattered holo effect as those of the China Glazes kaleidoscope collection. Overall I’m very happy to own this especially considering its price.

What do you guys think? Will you add this holographic topcoat to your nail polish collection?

Nail of the day: Pink Squares

Yay finally did my nails again and created this nail design. Unfortunately I'm still in my exam resit period, but luckily I’m almost done and then I can finally do more nail art posts.

    Nail polishes used:

    • Essie - French Affair (French affair collection)
    • OPI - Sparrow me the drama (Pirates of the Caribbean Collection)

Do you ever wear nail art? Do like this design? Would you recreate this one?

Pink, Black & Silver Color Block

    Hello everyone,

How was your weekend? Mine was quite boring unfortunately, just had to work and had no further plans really.

Anyway… Last week I was in the mood for some nail art as I bought this new nail art striper from Kiss and couldn't wait to use it. So even though this design was from last week, I still decided to post it.
