Midnight in Paris

So all these years I tried to find the perfect black eyeliner to complement my eye looks. It had to be a true black and waterproof and of course smudge proof. I have tried several different brands during the years and have either thrown them away or used them as a somewhat base for eye shadow.

The eyeliner that I currently like is from Essence and it is their gel liner in 02 Midnight in Paris. Now I have been using this for awhile now and recently replaced it with a new one again (which i usually never do).

What the website says about the Essence Gel liner:
Ultra-smooth gel formula allows for precise application. Apply it with the eyeliner brush. Quick-drying, long-lasting, smudge and waterproof.

Now to be honest I never tested how waterproof this gel liner was with my first jar, but decided to test it out for you. I applied a stripe to my arm and held it under rinsing water while trying to smudge the line. On the picture below you can tell that although the line isn't a perfect solid colour anymore, it's still quite there.

Even though I'm quite content with this eyeliner, I still want to try Essence's STAYS no matter what 24h eyeliner just to see if that one is even better, since you don't need an additional brush for that one.

Have you ever tried this eyeliner? Have you ever used gel liner instead of the usual eye pencil or liquid eyeliner?

New Face of ...

So today my class did Jeu de Boule, I had never played this game before. It's basically a competition between two teams about whose balls are closer to this smaller red ball (uhm yeah). The weather wasn't that great as well and for a moment we had to quit playing because of the rain. Even though it was fun, I do not have to play it again.

Anyway there is this competition at one of the perfumery shops to become their new Beauty Star. At first I didn't want to go and suddenly I thought why not.

How it works:
You need to visit the stores on one of the so called casting days where they would do your makeup first and afterwards take some pictures. Afterwards you also had the opportunity to buy your own pictures, but they used the first 4 for the competition anyway. Let's hope I win (fingers crossed).

I didn't like all of them and decided to just buy these two pictures.

Close-up on the eyes

Unfortunately I can't tell you what make-up I have on exactly though since the make-up artist applied some more on top of my basic look.

After the photo shoot I passed the Lush store and picked up some samples as well. I can't wait to try them.

What have you been up to today?

Pink, Black & Silver Color Block

Hello everyone,

How was your weekend? Mine was quite boring unfortunately, just had to work and had no further plans really.

Anyway… Last week I was in the mood for some nail art as I bought this new nail art striper from Kiss and couldn't wait to use it. So even though this design was from last week, I still decided to post it.

I really loved this design and it was very easy to create. The look is quite bright and really stands out due to the combination of colors.

What do you guys think of this look?

Fire Evacuation Drill

Let me start by saying that I have never experienced a fire drill in my first year at this school. However today was the day.

I just have two hours of French class on Wednesday mornings and during the first hour the alarm went off. Even my teacher stared at us not knowing if it was a drill or the real deal.

So of course we all went outside the room to notice that our two nearest exits were closed off, luckily the one near the main hallway could be opened. Nobody was panicking , some classes even remained seated (strange huh? What if it was real?).

The road towards the main fire emergency exit took way too long in my opinion. Half of the people would've died already if this would have been real. It appeared way too chaotic to me and I clearly understand why these drills are needed. The organization needs to improve big time if they want people to leave the building as quickly and safely as possible.

How is the evacuation drill at your school or company organized? Do you think there is room for improvement?

One week later

Hooray for my two weeks anniversary whoop whoop… Nah just kidding

So I haven’t posted anything this past week and I sincerely apologize for that. I had some important deadlines for this semester and that became my priority this past week.

This semester is almost over and for me it’s getting harder to focus on school. I catch myself daydreaming over sunny days, my summer outfits and of course some delicious cocktails to match while I should prepare for my exams. Just a few more weeks..

I have been writing all of these different blog concepts in the past month, but never know when to post which. Of course I also still have to translate my previous posts in English as my foreign friends are now unable to read them. Hmmm....So much to do and so little time.

Anyway I can’t wait until summer really starts, how about you?
Do you daydream about the holidays?

First Blog Week Anniversary

Hooray for my first blog week anniversary lol.

Of course I won't do these every week, so don't worry.

First of all I would like to say thank you for reading my blog so far.

Even though it started off in Dutch, I will continue to blog in English as I have asked around which of the two languages people would prefer.

The answer was very clear, it would be English and not bilingual as I was going to do. I tried to make use of the gadget 'Google Translator' and I now really understand why my language teachers don't want us to use it.

Anywho…Don't forget to subscribe and tell others about my blog.

How to: Remove Glitter Nailpolish

You’ve probably all been there at least once…You had spotted this gorgeous glitter nail polish, but got an immediate flashback to the last time you tried to remove such a polish. There is an easy trick to remove all that glitter and below you will find out how.

Things you’ll need:

Step 1:
Cut 3 cottonpads into four pieces. Even though you'll end up with twelve, we of course only need 10.

Step 2:
Tear 2 pieces of aluminum foil of about 10 cm wide and then tear a piece into 5 equal parts. Repeat this process with the other piece of foil so you’ll end up with ten small pieces of aluminum foil in total.

Step 3:
Rub some vaseline or thick creme on the cuticles to protect against the drying effect of acetone.

Step 4:
Pour some acetone on the glass dish and dip the cotton pads in it. They need to be moist enough in order to work effectively.

Step 5:
Place a cottonpad on the nail and then wrap a piece of aluminum foil around your finger. Repeat this process with every nail.

Leave this on for about 10 minutes. You can then check if the real nail is cleaned. If not, leave it in on a bit longer.

Et voila to your clean nails, ready to be painted again

Important: Do not use this method on fake nails (acrylics etc.) since this method could also be used to soak them off!
Too remove artificial nails you will need to leave the cottonpads a bit longer and possibly still have to file the acrylic or gel residue off.

Has this method inspired you to start using glitter nail polishes again?
