Nail of the day: Pink Squares

Yay finally did my nails again and created this nail design. Unfortunately I'm still in my exam resit period, but luckily I’m almost done and then I can finally do more nail art posts.

Nail polishes used:

  • Essie - French Affair (French affair collection)
  • OPI - Sparrow me the drama (Pirates of the Caribbean Collection)

Do you ever wear nail art? Do like this design? Would you recreate this one?

Review: Kiss Full Cover Nails in Active Square

Let me start by saying that I never thought I would wear full cover nails as I can clearly remember some awkward moments of a relative. She always buys the French manicure nails when she is going somewhere fancy, but never preps her nails and so they keep falling off at the worst moments ever hahaha

My natural nails

Anywho.... you're probably wondering why I need fake nails? I kinda dislike my own nails, because they're quite thin and weak and keep tearing off because of the almost constant contact with water. So what's a girl to do besides playing with artificial nails right? Sadly I'm very lazy when it comes to doing acrylics and had to find something else.

So after browsing online again I saw that Kiss offered bare 100 Full Cover Nails boxes. I got the Active Square since my nail beds are quite long and I was afraid the Short Square would be... well too short for me.

I have worn three sets of these nails already and finally thought it was time for a review. Although the packaging states that you can wear them up to 7 days, I've even worn them for three weeks. I'm so glad I found a new way to have fake nails, because I haven't regretted this purchase at all.

Okay so the pack contains 100 full cover nails in 10 different sizes which makes it easier to find the right match as well as a nail glue.

The nails are all numbered which makes for easy reference for the next time you apply them again, ranging from 0 (biggest size) all the way up to 9 (smallest size)

After applying the nails I always file the sides so that it matches my own width as much as possible. I also file the side that's touching my cuticle flatter so that the nail has a more natural overlap. As you can on the picture below the nails are trying to mimic a "natural" look, but without nail polish people can definitely tell they're fake.

Nail polish makes all the difference

TIPS & WARNINGS:

Prep your nails well before applying the full cover nails:

·         Clean your nails with acetone or nail polish remover to remove dirt and grease
·         Gently buff your nail beds as the glue seems to adhere better
·         Wipe nails again with acetone or nail polish remover to remove dust from buffing

Application:

·         Apply enough glue on the nail bed
·         Press the nail down firmly and hold
·         Have some paper ready to remove excess glue

Be careful with the nail glue as it dries in seconds and can glue your fingers or else together!

Removal:

The Kiss Full Cover Nails are also available in Curve Overlap, Active Oval and Short Square.

Do you or did you ever wear fake nails?  Would you ever consider full cover nails?

How I spend my Tuesday

I haven't blogged in a while, because of schoolwork and exams, but I did write some stuff though in the past days (just forgot to post them lol)

Even though I have to study for my resit exams next week, I keep doing things besides studying and past Tuesday was one of those days again.

I first had an appointment at a beauty salon, but unfortunately I was five minutes late. I still made the beautician smile when she saw me running into the shop on high heels. Luckily she was done with me within 10 minutes and didn't have to let others wait.

Anyway after that I just went to the market and bought two hair products, a leave-in conditioner from Cream of Nature which I've already used before and a conditioner from Aubrey Organics which I can't wait to try.

I really never walk into a H&M Divided store but this time I thought why not. I bought two tops on sale…yay score

My outfit for this hot summer day

I wanted to see how the top would look on top of my dress and I think it's a nice combination.

Finally found some interest to study one hour before bedtime (soo beneficial right? … not really though)

Hopefully I will get motivated again in the upcoming days as my first resit is upcoming Monday.

How did you spend your days? Did you enjoy the nice weather?

Aphogee 2-step Protein Treatment

As promised in yesterdays post, I will tell you about my experience with the Aphogee 2-Step Protein Treatment at today’s wash day.

But first what the website says:

This unique treatment is formulated with magnesium and modified proteins which fuse into the hair with the application of heat. The result is that breakage is drastically reduced.

Aphogee Two-Step Protein Treatment is a salon service product unlike any product available for at-home use. During the process, Aphogee treatment hardens into the hair, dramatic evidence that something special is occurring. For best results a hooded dryer is required. Follow up with the Balancing Moisturizer.

This remedial process is highly recommended for hair that:

·  Is too weak or fine to take a perm or relaxer. (use the week PRIOR to service)
·  Is over-bleached.
·  Will not hold color. (use PRIOR to color application)
·  Breaks when combed or brushed.
·  Is mushy when wet and brittle after drying.

My wash day routine:

After I slathered on coconut oil last night and fell asleep with the oil in my hair, I washed my hair today and afterwards towel dried my hair in preparation for the Aphogee treatment. I applied it to my hair by using a spray bottle and dried my hair with a handheld blow-dryer. After the outer layer dried hard I decided to sit under my hood dryer to make sure my hair was dry all over.

After rinsing thoroughly with warm water, I applied the Balancing Moisturizer and left this on my hair for 2 minutes. As I have read on several forums that the Balancing conditioner wasn’t moisturizing enough, I decided to also apply my deep moisturizing hair mask after that.

My experience with the Aphogee Treatment:

I think this is a great treatment for hair that is extremely damaged from hair dyes, chemical relaxers and similar damaging processes as my hair really did feel a bit stronger afterwards. The consistency is really watery and the smell reminds me of apple cider vinegar.

The application was quite sticky and messy, and as your hair dries you really need to be careful as I believe your hair could break otherwise. When my hair dried it was scary hard, I’m not even joking, it didn’t even feel like hair anymore. When rinsing my hair did feel stronger and a little straw-like, which was immediately softened by the Balancing Moisturizer. This conditioner smells lovely and will mask the smell of the 2-step treatment.

Honestly I do want to try it at least one more time before I can label this as my Holy Grail protein treatment. The process takes up quite a lot of time, but luckily you’re not supposed to use this more than once every 6 weeks. The Balancing Conditioner is a must after the 2-step treatment, but can also be used after shampooing.

Important Tips:

  • Do not touch your hair while it dries as it will surely break at that moment since it's super hard
  • Do not place anything on your shoulders as when your hair dries, it will stick to it and cause hair breakage
  • Follow up with the Balancing Conditioner and afterwards maybe even with your own moisturizing hair mask, to bring the softness back in your hair
  • Do not use this more than once every 6-8 weeks

If you have any questions about the 2-Treatment or the Balancing Moisturizer, feel free to ask.

Have you ever tried an intensive protein treatment for your hair?
How did you like it?

Survived My Exams

Yay I survived the two exam weeks...pfff, now waiting until all of my exam results are in. I just don't get why some grades are taking so long, I mean some were made on the computer (multiple choice exams btw) and the results could've been uploaded pretty much immediately.

But...it didn't. My classmates and I have been waiting for those results for around 1 week now which is ridiculous. Especially when you consider that we were expected to enroll for resits today already. School now decided to postpone the enrollment deadline till after the review day this upcoming Thursday.

Yay right...NOT as I'm sure that some results will still not be in by then.

Anywho...Today I finally *dusted my (hair) ends again after 6 months or so. I just totally forgot how long it has been and although my ends seemed fine I didn't want to create any chances for split ends to develop or get worse. Luckily I still remain at bra strap length hair after my dusting.

*I think that probably everyone knows what a hair trim is and are probably wondering why I'm talking about dusting. I consider cutting hair a trim when one cuts of more than an inch (=2,5cm) of hair and a dust whenever this cut is less than an inch.

Some of you know that I have chemically straightened my hair last week and because this process is damaging I wanted to try a hard protein treatment one week after to strengthen my hair again. So today I bought such a treatment which I will be using tomorrow on my wash day.

The product that I got is from the brand Aphogee and is called the Two-Step Protein Treatment, which needs to be followed up with the Balancing Moisturizer. I can't wait to try this tomorrow and will tell you how it went.

How did you spend your day?

Purple Sand

So I really wasn’t able to post this past week due to my exams and the flu. I did polish my nails though in this gorgeous colour from the O.P.I. Mariah Carey collection called Can’t Let Go.

Description from the mini O.P.I. Liquid Sand Nail Lacquer set:
Hold on to this matte purple with dazzling sparkle. All liquid sand nail lacquer dry to a textured matte finish infused with reflective glints of light.

I absolutely love this colour and the finish really complements it. I’m really happy that I was able to grab one of the last mini sets as the other colours from the collection really didn’t appeal to me and the mini set contained the 4 Liquid Sand formulas.

I took some pictures but they really don’t do this colour justice. It’s just amazing in reality and especially in sunlight.

The first two pictures were taken under water as I feel that this showed the most accurate colour of the nail polish. On the bottom picture you can really see the sand-like texture.

These polishes are mend to be worn without topcoat as they really dry to a sandy finish, but the colour is also beautiful with topcoat.

I highly suggest to get these polishes while they last as they are gorgeous and a great addition to your nail polish collection.

Surviving Exams

Hello everyone, how are you all doing? Unfortunately I wasn’t able to blog this past week, because of my exam weeks.

In this past week there finally were some sunny days, but sadly this was pared with a stormy and rainy day. Of course my body couldn’t handle it and now I’m sick again. I basically have no energy whatsoever and still need to survive another week of exams. Besides my sickness I feel like I always have some issues during exam periods and struggle to really focus.

Photo from quickmeme.com

I’m always distracted by my TV shows and studying outside of home is also a problem for me. I’m always acting as if I don’t have enough food with me and will spend between ten to fifteen Euros on food and drinks and this will add up in two weeks. A better idea for me would be to stay at home and come up with a plan, a structure. So here are my tips:

  • Study hours:
Draw up a plan in which you clearly state how long you will work on a certain subject and do this for every course. Make sure to also schedule in breaks for example 30 minutes, but remain focused outside of these breaks.

  • Snacks:
Make sure you have enough snacks available and within reach so you don’t have to spend time preparing them. For me this means everything that can be fried, contains sugar (yay Magnum ice-cream) or can be prepared in the oven…I know it’s bad, but this just works for me).

  • Drinks:
Make sure that you drink enough during the day as you can loose track of time and your body needs to be rehydrated. Some of you use drinks like coffee and/or energy drinks for the caffeine, but I just don’t like them. I mostly drink teas and lemonade and if I'm being wild I will drink some wine or so.

Decide when it’s enough. What I mean by that is that sometimes you continue to try to study, but your body and brain is just too tired. You would either have to take a nap and do an all-nighter or sleep like you normally do and wake up a little earlier and study further.

I hope these tips will help you in these upcoming weeks.
How is studying going so far?
