WHEN NAILART GOES WRONG #1

Hello everyone I almost didn´t post this as I hate how my nails look at this moment, but decided to upload it anyway. So I tried foiling for the first time yesterday and it turned out great (at first though). Had some tiny mistakes here and there (which I fixed btw) and went to my aunt's party even though I'm still sick. Didn't take pictures immediately when I was done, because it was quite late and I didn't have enough lighting. The party was fun and my nails were stunning with the foil effect.

But when I woke up this morning.....Yuck and ....yuck again. I mean just look at the pictures and you'll know what I mean.

You see what I mean now, it"s so ugly. For some reason my black zebra stripes on my ring finger and thumb turned this dark olive army green (this was done with a true black acrylic paint O_o" ). Thought I'd used enough glue to adhere my foil on the other nails. The fixed mistakes on those nails also turned into the dark olive army green, so now you see those patches as well.

Note to self for next time:

  • Topcoat the foil before using acrylic paint
  • Topcoat the finished design again
  • Do not rush through nailart

FYI I've used this beautiful foil named Fuchsia Fantasy for this design. Look at how gorgeous it looks in the bottle.

Too bad though, because the effect was very pretty and I will definitely redo this design one day. Just wanted to show you guys that not everything I try turns out great.

Have you ever messed up your nailart?

I'M GOING TO....

Hello everyone as some of you know I'm doing an international study of which an exchange semester is mandatory in the third year. Let me explain what this means...students must study abroad for a few months. In order to go one must participate in one of the two offered ranking procedures, so in February or in September. The school calculates your score by multiplying your grades with their assigned ECTS scores. I hope you get an idea of how this works. Unfortunately there weren't many places left, with some you had to speak a certain language and others weren't suited for my study program.

Well I for one participated this month and choose Mexico and France ,to improve either my Spanish or my French, and England because it was close by and you can never have to much English right. We were told that we would get our results mid October, but today I received a mail. Being that next month hasn't even started yet I started panicking, thinking about how I might have had to rank again due to the low amount of places. Maybe other people had a higher ranking score and chose the same places as me and therefore those were given to them.

But no it was the real deal, because the email started with congratulations, you've been ranked. I quickly scrolled down in the document looking for my student number (which seemed like forever) and there it was...

Mexico!!

I'm going to Mexico, it feels so surreal. Have to start planning everything now as it's not even close to home at all. Will have to look at all the details such at when my new school will start and when I will return of course. I have to look for housing, my flight and of course vaccinations.

I'm a bit scared as I've never been away from home that long and by myself, but I'm also happy and really curious where all of my classmates are going.

Have you ever been abroad for work or school? How was that experience for you?

NEW LOOK

So I was kinda bored with being sick at home and not really being able to do anything. I decided to change my background template to this current version and it really took a few hours. I had no idea I could change so many details. When I started this blog I didn't want to spent too much time choosing my background (I know bad right?). I just chose this aery coral-blue background with flowers (I think) and never really looked at it again.

The message I kept hearing though was that my previous template was too distracting from my pictures so this time I chose a more relaxed background. I don't think I will change it that much now, but you never know right. It's still not exactly the way I want it, but it will do for now.

I hope you guys like my new template as I do. In case you did prefer the old background, I kept that one for my mobile version.

China Glaze Wagon Trail

I totally forgot to upload this post as I didn't  didn't feel like blogging at all due to school, work and some personal matters. But I decided that this blog is my way of expressing my thoughts, feelings and most of all my love for nail polish.

Therefore I present you one my new loves...

China Glaze's Wagon Trail from their fall 2008 Rodeo Diva collection. I saw this colour years ago, but always forgot to order it. So when I was browsing on eBay again a while ago I decided to finally also order it and I've been in love since. It's absolutely beautiful, a must have and worth searching for. See for yourself..

Wagon Trail has this black base, but on the nails you can clearly see the gold and dark olive through it. I've used two coats and a topcoat to bring out this beautiful colour.

I just can't stop loving these blackened nail polishes...I absolutely adore them, want and need them all in my collection. They're just that gorgeous and so much better than just a basic black colour. These kind are special, they add this vampy look compared to plain black. Better yet I might just throw away my normal black polish haha.

Do you love these kind of black colours? Do you have some of them in your collection?

My Birthday Nails

So today is my birthday, couldn’t upload this post earlier as I besides the nail art also had to refill my acrylics. Anyway didn’t really do much today besides that as I got a bad flu and just don’t have the energy for other stuff. Don’t ask me how I will survive this week’s school lessons. Anyway let’s talk nail art.

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I absolutely love Robin Moses’ nail art designs and I will try to recreate practically all of them. The following is another inspired remake of one of her beautiful designs. Sadly when I finally finished my nails I didn’t have any natural lighting anymore so these pics are not doing this design justice. I’ll try to photograph some new ones tomorrow.

Products used:

  • Hema- Clear polish
  • China Glaze- Sunset Sail
  • Catrice- Miss Piggy Reloaded
  • Inaz- Glam Rock
  • Inaz- Rose Glam
  • MAC- Reflects Gold pigment
  • Essence- Better than Gel nails topcoat
  • Rhinestones

And of course a picture of my Bday outfit. Wasn't in the mood for special wear, so just a LBD and of course hot heels.

    Do you like this design?

Claire's Turquoise Glitter Sand Nail Polish

Hi everyone, today I wanted to show you a gorgeous nail polish from Claire's that I bought on sale last week. It's from their glitter sand collection and it's this nameless turquoisy colour and it's just plain gorgeous

The colour reminds me a bit of China Glaze's Going in circles but this one is a bit darker and of course the finish is totally different. These kind of polishes have this gritty sand like texture hence the name and should be worn without topcoat.

For these photos I've used two coats and of course no base/topcoat although I won't mind seeing how more beautiful this colour would look if I would have added those though.

What do you guys think of this nail polish? Have you tried a sand finish yet?

    Last Weeks Shopping in Almere

Hello guys haven't posted these past weeks due to school, work and feeling a bit down. Last Wednesday I went to Almere with a friend of mine, because he wanted to go to Zara. We unfortunately didn't find what he was looking for as it turned out that that item was only available onlineWhile browsing in several stores I found these nail polishes on sale at Claire's. Couldn't help myself of course and bought some haha.

My friend and I found this simple, but well needed mirror for just a mere 3 Euros at this discount store. I also found three gorgeous nail polishes from Revlon and Rimmel here too. Just couldn't help myself, you can never have too many bottles right.

As I hadn't been to Primark in awhile, we also had to go there where I found this gorgeous green wax coated skinny jeans and this beautiful limited edition bracelet.

Sadly my brother continues to confiscate all of my black socks, so I decided to buy these kind from now on as he won't ever want people to see him wearing these LOL. I also desperately needed those footies as I can't wear some of my heels without them.

All in all I'm really happy that we went shopping. We had a lot of fun and a lot of delicious and not so tasty foods.

How has your week been so far?

    Nailart: Blue Shatter Nails

Hello everyone sorry for not posting this past week. Had a lot on my mind; friends from abroad visiting, work, school starting next week and bunch of other stuff. I kinda got bored with my last design and needed something else even though I can only wear it for five days or so. I'm just not able to wear a design for more than a week…I need something else (and I'm also not allowed to wear nail polish at work *insert sad face*).

So while I was browsing online I remembered these gorgeous nail designs from Robin Moses (if you don't know her by now, you need to watch her ASAP). I basically love every design that she does especially the hand painted faces, because it starts out like basically this weird oval shape and then magically turns into this realistic face. They call her the nail art wizard for a reason.

So this design was inspired by Robin Moses' blue shatter nails, but trust me when I say that I have to try to recreate practically all of them.

    Products used:

    • HEMA - black nail polish
    • Catrice - 060 Mona Lisa is Staring Back
    • Black acrylic paint
    • Scraperfect - the best glue ever
    • Inaz - Perseus glam
    • Inaz - Parella glam
    • Inaz - Madri glam
    • MAC - reflects teal pigment
    • Essence - studio nails, better than gel nails topsealer

I absolutely love this design and can’t wait to try it with other colors. The glitter effect is gorgeous and these photos don’t even do it justice, because it’s just mesmerizing to see in person.

PS: please excuse the nasty cuticles as these pictures were taken after wearing this manicure for almost three days.

What do guys think of this design? Have you ever used eyeshadow in your nail designs?
